The Prophet Jeremiah is known as the weeping prophet.

Jeremiah’s history covered a span of 40 years-from his call in the 13th year of King Josiah (626 B.C.) until the fall of Jerusalem in 587 B.C.

He prophesied under the last five kings of Judah—Josiah, Jehoahaz, Jehoiakim, Jehoiachin and Zedekiah. While he was preaching, important personalities and events were shaping history beyond his native Judah. It was one of the most fateful periods in the history of our Jewish People.

Spiritual Adultery

The Nation of Israel is symbolically seen as the "Wife of the Lord" Unfortunately the "wife" went off with other lovers and false gods committing spiritual adultery.  Let's look at the words of the prophets to see what they say about the restoration of the Nation of Israel.

Jeremiah 3:14 "Return, O backsliding children," says the Lord; "for I am married to you. I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion. 15 And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

Learn about the Potter and the Potter's Field.  The field where the people of Israel of Israel sacrificed thier children by fire in the Valley of Hinnom.  This Valley of Blood where Judas hung himself and was buried.

Jeremiah 18:5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

6 "O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?" says the Lord. "Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel! 7 The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, 8 if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it.

Jeremiah 30:6-7

So why do I see every man with his

hands on his loins

        Like a woman in labor,

        And all faces turned pale?

Alas! For that day is great,

        So that none is like it;

        And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble,

        But he shall be saved out of it.
